Technology and Engineering: Ramos Ferreira Group at the Forefront of the ELT Project in Chile
The Ramos Ferreira Group, in consortium with the company Vieira Lopes/Ocram, is responsible for the detailed design, BIM engineering, supply and assembly of HVAC and temperature control systems, compressed air systems, and fire safety installations.
The 'ELT' (Extremely Large Telescope) is a ground-based telescope located in the South American continent. This telescope, situated in Chile, is a project of the European Southern Observatory (ESO) and consists of a 39-meter main mirror, making it the world's largest optical/infrared telescope.
Work on the ELT began in 2014, with Portuguese participation. Now it's Ramos Ferreira's turn to contribute to this project with its high-quality services. This contract amounts to 20 million euros and involves advanced technologies, making it a highly complex and demanding project with sustainable solutions.
The collaboration between Ramos Ferreira and Vieira Lopes/Ocram strengthens a strategic partnership and positions Portuguese engineering well internationally.
The extension of Ramos Ferreira Group's work to yet another new country allows the Group to proudly see its 42 years of experience in Special Installations once again recognized for the quality and trust of its services at an international level.
